On the Way Back From Beckley

I drove home with Dave from our meet up and we stopped in Lexington, VA

Our first stop in Lexington was Stonewall Jackson House:
The only home the Confederate general ever owned restored to its appearance before the Civil War, when Jackson taught at VMI.

Then a walk around town

Beautiful brick work

Photographers at work

Lost in the Suburbs

Then we headed to the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery
Stonewall Jackson, 144 Confederate veterans, two Virginia governors & Margaret Junkin Preston are buried in the cemetery. The statue of Stonewall Jackson was sculpted by Edward Valentine.

Last stop on the trip was the Natural Bridge of Virginia
Natural Bridge is marketed as one of the seven natural wonders of the world, but this refers to a mention on an old list of seven natural wonders of the modern world. Before the settlers came to the New World, the Natural Bridge was a sacred site of the Native American Monacan Indians.
